The Jack H. Bloch Surgical Alumni Society is dedicated to uniting past graduates and present faculty and residents of Kern Medical Center's Surgical Residency Program The society was established by Dr. Ray Chung, in honor of Dr. Jack H. Bloch who has dedicated his life to educating and nuturing young surgeons. He has trained numerous surgical residents and inspired countless medical students in their medical career. The inaugural meeting was held in Chicago during the annual American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in 2000. The organization was named after Dr. Jack Bloch who has contributed immensely to the education and career developments of numerous past surgical residents at Kern Medical Center. He has acted tirelessly as the Chairman of the department for over 25 years until 2002 when he turned over the chairmanship to Dr. Maureen Martin.
Since its inception, the Society has held regular annual meetings during the ACS Clinical Congress and will continue to do so.
