The Department of Surgery, under the leadership of Dr. Maureen Martin, consists of General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Urology and Ophthalmology. 

Laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, trauma, surgical critical care, thoracic surgery and vascular surgery are all under the Division of General Surgery.

Affiliated hospitals include UCLA, Delano Regional Medical Center, Central California Children's Hospital, Community Regional Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, Bakersfield Heart Hospital and San Joaquin Hospital.
